Formula for Calculating the Size of Round Bar Needed to Manufacture Hexagonal, Square and Flat Bars

Fabricate Hexagon and Square Bar
With the diameter of the hexagon or square bar, the size of the
round bar can be calculated using the following formula:

Round Bar Diameter = Hexagon Diameter * 1.154701
Round Bar Diameter = Square Diameter * 1.414214

Fabricate Flat Bar
With the width and height of flat bar, the minimum diameter of
round bar can be calculated using the following formula:

Round Bar Minimum Diameter = Square Root(Width² + Height²)



Hexagon Diameter

Hex Dia = Round Bar Diameter

Square Diameter

Sq Dia = Round Bar Diameter

Fabricate Flat Bar

Width Height = Min Dia
