According to Spetsstal's appraisal, the volume of imports of stainless steel products to Russia in January to August 2009 period is down by 50.3% YoY to 59506 tonnes.

The major losses were observed in imports of flats (-56.9%), wire (-54.1%), seamless tubes (-45.7%), longs (-42.2%) and welded tubes (-28.4%). The only sector of stainless steel imports that saw a rise was slabs with +4.7%.

The volume of stainless steel imports to Russia in August 2009 decreased by 24.6% YoY to 5799 tonnes. This figure is the lowest result in 2009.
